Bridlewood Farm

Bridlewood opened in 2004 with the focus of teaching children and adults the fundamentals of the Hunter/Jumper discipline.

Trainer/Manager - Missy Duke

Missy Duke is the barn manager and trainer at Bridlewood Farm.  Along with nine years of showing in the Hunters, she has an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Equine Technology.  Missy has been teaching and training at Bridlewood Farm since its inception in 2004.

The main focus of Missy's training philosophy is patience!

"Let the horse tell you when he is relaxed and confident to move on to a new challenge.  It is important to add variety to your horse's training.  Just because he's a show hunter does not mean he doesn't like going out on the trails."

When asked about her teaching philosophy Missy says,

"I believe it is important to match every riders needs to their level.  A correct position makes for an effective rider.  I enjoy a good rapport with my students which allows for good communication.  I love to take a student from their first lesson to buying and showing their first horse!"

Owner - Michel Miller

My husband, David, and I own the barn and land at Bridlewood Farm.  We bought this 70 acre farm in southern Granville county 12 years ago.  In 2001 we completed our modest house/garage, with the hopes of building a larger house in 5 years.  In 2003, we had our twin boys, Ian and Jackson and opened Bridlewood Farm.  Both boys had their first ride with Missy when they were 9 months old!  They continue to ride their pony Maddie and love it.  We also have 2 horses, Trillie and Kali.
