| Missy
Duke is the barn manager and trainer at Bridlewood Farm. Along
with nine years of showing in the Hunters, she has an Associate of
Applied Science Degree in Equine Technology. Missy has been
teaching and training in the Raleigh area for the past 10 years.
The main focus of Missy's training philosophy
is patience!
"Let the horse tell you when he is
relaxed and confident to move on to a new challenge. It is
important to add variety to your horse's training. Just because
he's a show hunter does not mean he doesn't like going out on the
trails."
When asked about her teaching philosophy Missy
says
"I believe it is important to match every
riders needs to their level. A correct position makes for an
effective rider. I enjoy a good rapport with my students which
allows for good communication. I love to take a student from
their first lesson to buying and showing their first horse!"
Dave and Michel Miller own the barn and land at
Bridlewood Farm. They bought this 70 acre farm in southern
Granville county 9 years ago. Since then they have built the
barn and a house on the property. They also have five year old
twin boys. Ian and Jackson had their first ride with Missy when
they were 9 months old! They continue to ride their pony Maddie and love it.
The Miller's also have 2 horses, Trillie and Kali.
